Why We Bought This Property and What It is Like Living Here

We were looking for a place to live to bring balance to our busy, stressful lives. Our daughter rides horses so we needed a horse-friendly place. When we saw this property we instantly felt Peace.

Living at 1220 Nicasio Valley Road is like being in a private resort. Every morning I pinch myself as I look outdoors at the beauty that surrounds us. The weather is ideal with plenty of sunshine. The night sky is beautiful and we have taken many walks under the moonlight.

Every person that visits the property comments on how beautiful and peaceful it is. We have hosted several Natural Horsemanship clinicians, including Brian Neubert and Oscar and Cristobal Scarpati (from Argentina).  It has certainly been a place of healing and meditation for our family and for our guests.

We have lovingly worked on the property making many improvements: building the round pen and pasture fences, replacing the roof, completely remodeling the kitchen and living room, adding the stone deck and fire pit to the koi pond area, changing the landscape to reflect mostly native, drought-tolerant plants that thrive in our area, remodeling almost every bathroom in the house, creating new trails, and meticulously caring for the land and home.

Now that both our daughters will be gone (youngest is heading to college this year) we are entering the next phase of our lives and it is time for us to make a change.

The Town of Nicasio

Nicasio is a wonderful, private, charming place to live! There are two restaurants within three minutes of the house. Rancho Nicasio has a varied menu, live music and is the location of many wedding receptions and Nicasio Land Owners meetings. Two-Bird Café has wonderful food, a farmhouse feel, and also has live music). There is a charming K-8 school which is truly a gem! Downtown Fairfax is 10 minutes away with movie theaters, grocery stores (including Good Earth), and many restaurants and shops. Nicasio has an active Land Owners Association which meets to discuss pertinent issues and organize emergency preparedness events for the Valley. There is also a very active Nicasio Ladies’ Auxiliary group which meets monthly and sponsors community events to raise money for the Nicasio Firefighters. These are fantastic ways to get to know your neighbors and learn about Nicasio. Lastly, there is a famous Pumpkin Patch every fall attracting people from all over Marin, the Nicasio Cheese Factory, and many other charming events and activities throughout the year.
